A Message from your Head of Year
You have probably been thinking about starting Saltley School
and wondering what to expect. You may be a little worried or
excited about the change from your junior school
Don’t be. There will be about 180 new pupils at Saltley School in September and many of them will feel the same way as you, so you are not alone!
This booklet is yours to keep, if there is anything you are not sure about, read on, and all your questions will be answered. If there is anything you don’t understand ask your teacher or your parents.
If you have a question to ask, then in the back of this booklet is a page especially for you to write down anything you want to ask. So don’t forget to bring it with you on your first day at Saltley School. You will be able to look at it with your form tutor.
If you are concerned about anything please let us know - tell your form teacher, Head of Year, Mr Johnson, or your Year Co-ordinator Mr. Ahmed. We all look forward to seeing you in September.
Yours sincerely,
Mr D. Johnson
Head of Year 7
A Message from Year 7
Dear Pupil,
I am writing to you to tell you when you move to Saltley School there is nothing to worry about. OK I know what you're thinking - how does she know - but remember I moved to Saltley School too. I was worried about lots of things. Like "Will I get lost?", "Will I get bullied?", "Will I have a hard time finding new friends?", and most of all "Will I fit in?" And do you know what, in less than a week I had found lots of friends and joined lots of clubs. So don't worry, in a few weeks time you will be wondering why you were worrying in the first place.
And you are probably thinking what about lessons? I might get lost and would not know my way round the school? Don't worry you are going to be given a map of the school and timetable of all the lessons you are going to have. Don’t worry; soon you will get used to having 5 lessons a day and have lots of fun.
Yours sincerely,
Maaria Ashraf
Chair of Year 7 School Council
